Pfizer Recalls Five Lots of Accupril Due to Potential Cancer Risk

Pfizer has recalled five lots of Accupril*, a blood pressure medication, because exposed use can lead to a potential cancer risk.

The recalled blood pressure medication has a nitrosamine impurity. If exposed to high levels over a long period of time, nitrosamine can increase the risk of cancer (according to the FDA).

The FDA says that distributors and sellers of any product in this recall should stop use and distribution, as well as quarantine the product immediately if it is in inventory.

Healthcare professionals are urged to reach out to any patients to whom the medicine was prescribed. Patients can contact Sedgwick to return the product and receive a refund.
