Defective Children’s Products

When we buy products that are designed for use by our children, we not only expect those products to perform as advertised and to do so safely, we demand it. However, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for many American children, and emergency rooms nationwide treat nearly 10 million children for those injuries yearly.

Every year, the Consumer Product Safety Commission receives 10,000 reports of injuries or deaths caused by unsafe toys and defective children’s products. The agency issues recalls of dangerous children’s products an average of twice a week.

Manufacturers are required by law to make sure the toys and children’s products they sell are safe, and government inspectors review thousands of products each year for compliance with safety regulations. But too often, potentially hazardous products end up on store shelves, placing your children in harm’s way.
