HKQ Firm News

In situations involving simple tasks, individuals or companies may choose to handle small matters on their own.  However, in more complicated matters, HKQ Law Attorney Michelle Quinn cautions against going it alone: “A thorough understanding of nuances of the law and the intricacies of legal procedures is essential to achieving your goal.” That makes the services of an attorney indispensable.  So how do you find an attorney best suited for your legal needs?  Look for these important attributes:

1.     Experience

Experience is usually helpful in most endeavors. For a lawyer, it is critical. Ensuring financial security for accident victims and their families, representing those that are victims of medical wrongdoing, protecting the assets that a person has worked so long and hard for, and helping businesses thrive by guiding them through ever-evolving laws and regulations -- the stakes are high. The attorneys at HKQ Law have the credentials you need to get results.

2.     Expertise

When you need an attorney, you have a specific legal need. You’re best served by an attorney who is well versed in the area of law which involves that need. Through our Personal Injury, Business Law and Personal Law teams, HKQ Law provides specialized legal expertise in a variety of areas. From personal injury to medical malpractice litigation; commercial litigation to construction accidents; eminent domain to employment law; trusts to telecommunications; and wills to worker’s compensation, HKQ Law is your legal source.

3.     Resources

Look for a law firm that has the fiscal strength to provide their clients with expert resources. HKQ Law attorneys draw on the knowledge and experience of their expansive internal team and their impressive roster of highly-specialized experts, bringing more research, technological and detailed testimony to represent your case.

4.     Integrity

At HKQ Law, integrity is of utmost importance. Integrity means being honest and morally responsible to clients and potential clients while providing quality legal services at a fair cost. We hold the entire team to only the highest and most consistent standards, every single day.

5.     Dedication

Achieving the best results takes more than knowledge - it requires hard work. At HKQ Law, you’ll find a team of hard-working people. “No one works harder for you than HKQ Law” is more than just a slogan. It’s our guiding principle.

How You Can Assist and Advocate

If you choose to hire an attorney, you can still be very involved in your case.  Preparation and note-taking is imperative. Carry a notebook and a pen. Record names, dates and any specific details. Use your cell phone to document if possible. Take photos.

For example, if you’ve been injured in a car accident, take photos of the area if you can safely do so. Write down names, including any witnesses, insurance company names and numbers, names of officers, address of the accident location, times and dates. To help you to remember what you should record, click here to receive your copy of the “After an Accident” card to keep in your glovebox. Should you need it, it will be available as a reference.

To gather information for a potential medical malpractice claim, take detailed notes at your visit to the doctor and/or the hospital, including the names of doctors, nurses or any specialists that might be involved in your care. Include dates and times. You may also want to obtain your medical records.

If you’re a business owner, make sure to maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records for any future legal requirements such as meeting notes, licenses and policies, employee details, etc.

As Hourigan, Kluger and Quinn addresses the concerns raised by COVID-19, the health and safety of our clients, employees and friends of the firm remain our top priority.

These are very difficult and scary times and we hope that you and your loved ones are safe and symptom free. We recognize that so many of you are understandably anxious about your health, the economic impact of this pandemic and all of the consequences of social isolation.

We also recognize that many of you are anxious about how the coronavirus is impacting the Court systems, our firm and your cases. Although all of our offices are closed, our firm has remained fully operational and we have initiated procedures that allow all of our attorneys and staff to work remotely from their homes. Each of us and our staff will respond to any emails and calls about your cases as quickly as possible.

Our Federal and State Courts have instituted significant changes in their calendars as a result of the coronavirus. Although most courthouses are closed to the public, and Hearings and Trials will be delayed for some time, there are matters that can proceed telephonically and by video. Despite these changes in the Court calendars, we are working diligently on your cases and are determined to do whatever we possibly can to assure an early and just recovery for you and your loved ones. Even under these difficult circumstances, we believe that "Nobody will work harder for you than we will."

With regard to new potential clients, we are not in a position to have an in-person new client meeting, but we will be conducting these initial meetings via phone. New potential clients should call us for a free telephone consultation at (570) 287-3000.
