The Babysitter That Parents Trust
March 31st, 2017
| Michelle M. Quinn
Finding a good babysitter can be a challenge for parents. Over the past two years, the Red Cross reports that 55% of parents had a change of plans because they could not find a good sitter. And, nearly a third of parents turned sitters away because of safety concerns.
Parents look for sitters that are knowledgeable, responsible and have experience with childcare skills, basic first aid and CPR experience. Parents understand that there is more to choosing a sitter than price and availability. In fact, 80% of parents reported that they would pay more to teen sitters who were knowledgeable, skilled and responsible.
Keeping with our mission to create a safer future for children in Northeastern PA, HKQ Kids will offer a free baby-sitter training seminar for area youths, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, on May 6th at the ARC headquarters in Wilkes-Barre.
The free seminar will teach youths how to care for children and infants; how to be a good leader and role model; how to make good decisions and solve problems; how to keep themselves and the children they are baby-sitting safe; how to handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses and household accidents; how to write resumes and interview for jobs; and much more.
The seminar, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the ARC headquarters at 256 North Sherman St., is open to 30 area youths between the ages of 11 and 15.
Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
To sign up today, call Sue Greenfield at 287-3000 or email email@example.com.
HKQ Kids was established in October 2005 by the law firm of Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn to promote child safety through community outreach and educational programs. The fund is administered by the Luzerne Foundation.
