May 26th, 2018 | Michael A. Lombardo, III
The Lombardo family and Pittston – synonymous. You can’t think of one without the other. When you talk to Attorney Michael Lombardo, it’s clear that no one loves his hometown more than he does.
Attorney Lombardo’s family has a long, founding history in the town where he was born, raised and continues to live and serve. In the Early 1900’s Attorney Lombardo’s paternal grandfather immigrated to Pittston from Calabria, Italy, to work in the booming coal industry as Pittston was centered at the heart of the anthracite coal region.
Pittston also became an active railroad center in response to transporting coal out of the area. The town was home to many industries including metals, plastics, paper products, electrical equipment and beverages. For more than 50 years (the 1930’s through the 80’s) Pittston emerged as a national center for clothing manufacturing.
Generations of the Lombardo family held leadership and community service positions that helped the town of Pittston flourish into a community that is ethically rich in tradition, the arts, and economic diversity.
The tight-knit Lombardo family would do anything for their hometown, including putting their lives on the line. Attorney Lombardo’s cousin, John, was a firefighter that gave his family, his town and his profession his all. When John lost his life in the line of duty to a devastating fire, Attorney Lombardo and his entire family felt a devastating loss. This loss was instrumental in his decision to become a Personal Injury Lawyer, and pivotal to his involvement in the community. In honor of his cousin, Lombardo is a member of the Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance Association and the Pittston City Fire Department, where he continues to serve on the board of directors. He is an active firefighter and is a state-certified emergency medical technician.
Attorney Lombardo is currently the Vice-Chairman of Pittston City Council. Formerly a president of the Greater Pittston YMCA, he continues to be active in the organization. He is also involved in numerous other community groups such as Leadership Wilkes-Barre, the Wilkes-Barre chapter of UNICO, Knights of Columbus (Third Degree), the Italian American Association of Luzerne County and the Pittston Tomato Festival Committee. He is a member of the St. Joseph Marello Parish community in Pittston.
His accomplishments as an attorney have been consistently recognized by his peers, having been selected each of the last six years as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers® Rising Star. Additionally, he was recently named to the National Trial Lawyers "Top 40 Under 40" list. He received numerous academic awards while attending law school at The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law. He is also an honors graduate of King's College.
Attorney Michael Lombardo resides in Pittston, the town he loves to call home.
