HOURIGAN, KLUGER & QUINN, P.C'S RICHARD S. BISHOP, ESQUIRE, AWARDED 2003 EQUAL ACCESS TO JUSTICE AWARD

Richard S. Bishop, Esquire, a partner practicing in the Scranton office of Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn, P.C., recently received the Equal Access to Justice Award from the Lackawanna County Bar Association.

The Lackawanna Bar Association bestows the award annually, in conjunction with Lackawanna Pro Bono, Inc., in recognition of outstanding pro bono legal services.

Attorney Bishop was selected because he has demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to meeting the legal needs of low income clients through pro bono work. Attorney Bishop's practice emphasizes commercial law, real estate and estate planning. Since 1998, he has handled six pro bono cases, primarily debtor-creditor matters, for Lackawanna Pro Bono. His most recent pro bono case was a complex real estate matter involving more than 30 hours of work in which he represented a family that was losing its home.

"I am honored to receive the Equal Access to Justice Award," said Bishop. "I feel pro bono service is an opportunity to give back to the community. I am thankful to be able to assist pro bono clients and provide legal assistance which they may not otherwise be able to afford."

Attorney Bishop is a member of the Board of Directors of the Lackawanna County Bar Association; President of the Glen Oak Country Club; and President of the Mid-Atlantic Region of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. He is also a Vice President of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and President of the Lackawanna Advisory Board of The Salvation Army.
