Head-on crash victim awarded $130,000
WILKES-BARRE — A mother and her three children were awarded $130,000 Wednesday in a settlement of a lawsuit related to car crash. Linda Yachimovicz and her children, of Van Loon Street, were awarded the damages from Brian Kwashnik. According to the lawsuit, filed by attorney Michael A. Lombardo III of the law firm of Hourigan, Kluger, and Quinn, Yachimovicz was driving a vehicle carrying her three children, ages 10, 12, and 14, on Sept. 26, 2005, on U.S. Route 11 in Larksville when a vehicle driven by Kwashnik crossed into her lane and struck her vehicle head-on. Kwashnik was speeding, the suit said, and Yachimovicz's three children suffered various injuries. Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge Hugh Mundy approved the settlement Wednesday. The settlement calls for Yachimovicz and the children to receive more than $98,000 and the law firm to receive more than $29,000 for fees and costs. |
