A jury awarded Scott and Heidi Schukraft of Dallas $6.7 million for the death of their infant son after finding Dr. Mark Polin and several nurses at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital acted with "reckless disregard" for the infant's life. The finding opened the door for an extremely rare award of punitive damages, which were settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.
