Many of our settlements are subject to confidentiality provisions which prevent us from disclosing their existence and/or the amount of settlement. While we believe that such provisions unfairly protect wrongdoers and severely impair public awareness of important safety issues, many insurance companies absolutely refuse to enter into a settlement agreement that does not provide for confidentiality. Needless to say, the best interests of our clients must prevail and it is the client who ultimately decides whether to accept an offer of settlement. Therefore, we are unable to list many settlements subject to such confidentiality provisions.
